As soon as Jonah got…

As soon as Jonah got off the bus, he started yelling, “I want happy tickles! Happy tickles!”

…Over and over again.

The only time Jonah uses this phrase is when he perceives I am “cross” with him, or unhappy for any reason.

“Happy tickles” just another name for a “silly, goofy mood.”

It means Jonah wants me to be in a happy, silly, goofy mood… and not a “serious” one.

So for him to start with “happy tickles,” before he can even assess my mood means…

“Don’t be mad, but…”

Or…

“I can’t tell you, but you probably wouldn’t be happy with me if you knew about [this thing that happened at school], so let’s not think about it and just be happy!”

I texted his teacher again about his day and she told me she is actually out until Wednesday.

Makes sense.

Jonah is ALL kinds of dysregulated because his school day is so outside his routine.

He NEEDS that routine to succeed.

Hopefully his behavior hasn’t been too awful, and that he doesn’t lose any progress with his learning…

We have worked too hard.

Two years ago, he hated school so much, he locked himself in the bathroom so he didn’t have to go.

Now, He actually LIKES school.

I just with I knew what was going on.

😕
