So Jonny turns 12 tomorrow.
How did this happen??
How is my perpetual 7-year-old nearly a teenager??
As I think about everything we’ve been through with Jonny as a child (I could write a book, and I probably WILL), I’m reminded of a conversation I had with him on the eve of his 10th birthday:

Jonny: “How many more hours until I turn 10?”
Me: “3. It’s bedtime buddy.”
Jonny: “I’m scared. I don’t want to grow up.”
Me: “Everybody grows up, bud. There’s nothing to be scared of.
Jonny “is it painful?”
Me: “Is WHAT painful?”
Jonny: “Growing up.”
Me: “hmm. Well? Not all at once…”
Jonny: “aww. I’m sad for my 9-year-old self. I just don’t want to grow up.”
Me: “Sometimes I think like that too… i remember when you were born… it seems like yesterday… I can’t believe it … wait… what are you doing?”
Jonny: “I need to pack a suitcase.”
Me: “why?”
Jonny: “So I have extra clothes in heaven when I die…”
