So the other day…

So the other day…

So the other day Jojo and I were at the supermarket and were checking out, when the checker noticed that the packaging of lunch bag potato chips we were purchasing had been opened from the bottom, and bags of chips were probably missing. I was in such a hurry, I didn’t notice.

After she finished ringing me up, she said that I could go back and pick out another package and go.

Well, returning to shopping after checking out is DEFINITELY not part of the “shopping routine.” You can imagine Jonah’s reaction. You can also imagine the reaction of those around me.

When I had gotten to the chip aisle, he was in a full meltdown in the shopping cart. And of course, there were no other packages identical to the one we had purchased. We had gotten the last one.

So instead of making a second trip to the checkout aisle and waiting in line to try to sort it with Jojo the way he was, I just picked out a different lunch bag potato chip mix that was almost the same (same price) and left.

It was not an ideal solution but it was was the only one that would get us out of there quickly.

When our kids are experiencing meltdowns, we as parents must be quick and decisive in helping our kids calm down. We don’t always have “ideal solutions.”

Please don’t stare. We are doing our best.
