Do your kiddos scrip…

Do your kiddos script? If so, what is their latest “thing” to repeat?

Jonah will do the typical scripting and singing from shows he watches…

But also, Jonah has been scripting bits of real-life conversations lately . He will pretend he is his own therapist and “ask himself” to do things the therapist asks daily. He will then “do them” and then congratulate himself for doing a “good job!”

Another thing he has been scripting is the “whine” of one of his classmates at school.

How do I know?

Because after he “whines,” he says her name in a very “no-nonsense” type of way (the way a teacher/parent would correct a child)…

I know that scripting and echolalia can get cumbersome for some people when they hear it all the time, but for me, having a son who was nearly completely nonverbal a year ago, it’s still all music to my ears and I will take whatever speech I can get.
