I couldn’t have asked for a better doctors appointment from Jojo than yesterday.
First of all, I got the times mixed up and we showed up late. We ended up having to wait for half an hour in the waiting room.
Now most of you know, autism and waiting/patience don’t go well together, especially outside of the normal routine.
But Jojo found this perfectly sized “Jojo chair” and parked it in front of the fish tank. He waited there just like this the whole time.
My 9-year-old Jonny was the one who got impatient! (Go figure)
Then, when we finally went back to the doctors office, Jojo was just s little bit apprehensive, but he allowed the doctor to do his examination without any real problems.
The only real trouble cane at the very end for shots (understandably). I had to hold him in my lap and my wife held his legs down.
But when they were done, he composed himself without any further distress and he was a rockstar for the rest of the day!
I’m am so (pleasantly) surprised at the amount of progress we have made with visits to both the doctor and dentist’s office!
Way to go Jojo!
