School blues…


The last couple days, Jonny has come home from school exhausted. And I mean he comes home and sleeps. Today it was 2 hours.

It’s not like we’re letting him stay up until 3 AM, the kid is getting at least 11 hours of sleep at night. Yet when I pick him up from school, I hear stories from his teacher about how he is just generally “not happy.”

His teacher (bless her heart) lets him lie down on a couch in class when he feels tired to take a power nap. Even so, a couple days ago, Jonny did NOT want to be at recess, and he did NOT want to be at school. He wanted to be back in class, and then he wanted to go home, and then he wanted to go home with Mrs. [teacher], and then he wanted to… (you get the picture).  

The kid was about to fall asleep in his shoes standing up.

Maybe it’s the new sibling, or maybe he’s growing… but between the bus incident, a bit of a runny nose, and 2 hour naps, the little guy is sure happy it’s the weekend. Aren’t we all?

Now if I could only get him to sleep in on weekends the way he seems to be sleeping in all week.
