We are so grateful to have a church that accommodates Jonah.
They really go above and beyond what is necessary to minister to my son.
When Jonah was younger, I had to sit with him in kids church to make sure he behaved. It was often challenging and I rarely got to go to a service myself.
Sometimes, I had to sit with him all service in the foyer, because he had behavioral issues in class.
Our church saw the need and reached out to see how they could help. Someone volunteered to be a 1 on 1 for Jonah during class and sat with him each week for the whole service so we could actually attend the main service.
She started helping us in 2019.
Jonah has done so well since then that he doesn’t need ANYONE to sit with him in class anymore.
He has really flourished in the classroom environment our church has created.
Sometimes, Jonah has a tough time understanding or participating in class. In the past, this has lead to behavioral issues and even meltdowns.
But Jonah has grown and developed over the years.
Sometimes he just needs to be “doing something” for him to really stay engaged now.
Something “constructive.”
When I went to pick him up today, he had put this whole thing together. 🥰
(He also helped clean it all up before we left).
We’ve come a long way since the days of “sitting with him all service,” just hoping to make it to the end without a meltdown.
And I am so thankful to have a church that really “gets it.”
