So the fireworks woke Jonah up at midnight. He walked into our room and climbed into bed with us.

So I got up as I usuallly do and led him back into his room to climb back into his bed.

Only this time, he didn’t follow me. He was asleep. In my spot. He ALWAYS wants to follows me at night if he’s awake. No matter where I go. He wants to sleep where I am…

But not tonight. 🤔

So I had a dilemma.

I could climb back into bed with him and Mama and risk waking all of them up…and who knows when Jojo would fall back asleep. You see, when he’s awake in bed with us, he is so active, NOBODY can sleep.

I could just go sleep on the couch, but if Jojo woke up, he would also come find me and kick me off the couch to the floor.

I could sleep in his bed and risk him wandering the house looking for me if he woke up… because I’m NEVER in his bed at night and he wouldn’t think to look there.

Who knows what he would do at 2am if he couldn’t find me…

Or I could just “keep the routine” because it is most familiar to Jojo and I will do anything to avoid a nighttime meltdown.

So here I am. This is me.

I’m just a Dad. Trying to fall asleep on the floor of my son’s room at 2am, while he sleeps in my bed.
