Yes! this! So, Jonah “knows words,” but conversationally, he has a very limited vocabulary. Most of his conversations consist of “All done ___________” (referring to things he doesn’t like or wants to stop) Rarely does he initiate verbal communication any other way. Jonah came up to me the other day with his tablet. He had pulled up an old video on that I took years ago at a local play area. We haven’t been there in years. But he showed me the tablet and flashed me his best “dimpled grin.” No verbal communication needed. “LET’S GO HERE!” is what he ‘said’ without actually saying it. I’ve been trying to figure out how to introduce him to an AAC device to augment his verbal skills. It’s been tough getting him to figure out the concept.
