Earning tablet time, is extremely motivating for Jonny.
Long ago, I laid out tablet ground rules.
Jonny used to play with his tablet all morning and we would be late for school.
So in an effort to curb morning time tablet drama, I came up with these rules.
No tablet until ready for school.
No tablet unless homework is done.
No tablet after 8:15am (we leave at 8:25)
So Jonny, in an attempt to STILL play with his tablet in the mornings, would get up before the crack of dawn to get all his homework done for the day BEFORE school and get ready before it was even light out.
This was not what I was going for.
See, The problem then was that Jonny would wake up cranky and would barely make it to bedtime.
So in an attempt to curb THAT behavior, I told him he could not wake up before 7am to do any homework or… ANYTHING. He needed his sleep.
(On weekends, all bets are off except for the 7am rule… he can get up and play with his tablet on the weekends as long as it’s not too early.)
All this to say that Jonny has been setting his alarm for 7am every morning, so he can either get up on the weekends…
…so he can play with his tablet…
…or to get up to do his homework and get ready for school quickly…
…so he can play with his tablet.
So today… Sunday morning. Daylight savings time started. Jonny set his alarm for 7am … which (for all intents and purposes) was 6am…
And this little guy didn’t even have the common decency to wake up for it.
And this is the kind of alarm from hell that beeps more frequently and loudly the longer it goes off.
It will NEVER shut itself off.
😩😭😖
And that’s how our day started.
