I’m incredibly proud right now.

I’m incredibly proud right now.

Most of you don’t know, but ‘Mama,’ works as an RN and nurse manager in the intensive care unit at an area hospital.

I don’t mention her a lot here, as she prefers to stay ‘behind the scenes,’ but I will give honor where honor is due.

You see, to put it plainly, Mama is a rockstar.

And for the past 16 years, she has been selflessly taking care of other people.

Every morning, she gets up, drinks her coffee, and mentally prepares herself to care for those who need the most intensive care possible.

And if she’s not doing it herself, she is making sure SOMEBODY is taking care of each person in her charge, doing everything she can to help them to recover.

Often prioritizing their care above her own.

When they recover, she will be there, offering support.

And if they don’t recover, she will also be there, Offering comfort or support to the family, who may be going through the worst day of their lives.

And she does it every single day.

Whatever the sickness. Whatever the disease. However severe. Mama is there.

So when Coronavirus started going around, she didn’t think twice about going in to work.

People still need care.

And when the rest of the country is going through mass hysteria, fear, and general pandemonium over Covid-19, every morning, Mama gets up and goes right into the teeth of the craziness…Into the fear…Into the chaos…Into the frustration.

And after dealing with all of that each day, she still comes home to us to be “Mama.”

I asked her once why she wanted to be a nurse, she told me, “Because one day, I might be the one who is sick, and I would want to know there are people who would take care of me.”

So she is there. Every day.

And whatever sickness or disease you have, she will take care of you.

I often tell people, “I hope you never have to meet my wife in a professional capacity, but if you do…

…you will be in good hands.”

And for every one of her, there are still thousands more out there like her out there on the medical front lines, tirelessly working, ready to take care of you if you need it.

So, to every medical professional out there working to keep us healthy and safe… from the bottom of my heart…

…Thank you.

“May God bless you and keep you. May He make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you. May He lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.”
