So much of communication is simply non-verbal cues.

Body language. Vocal intonation.

Until I thought about it, I didn’t realize how much I have learned to translate “happy sounds” from “distressed sounds” with my kids.

The actual “words” don’t actually matter. It is the manner in which they are being ‘translated’ that forms the actual “communication.”
