Jonah had a rough da…

Jonah had a rough day at school today, from what I can tell.

Although, I got no phone call and no note home… it just seems like today was not a good day.

It started off okay. We made it to school on time… but in the process of getting Jonah’s jacket on (he won’t put it on until we are already at school) he pinched his neck with the zipper.

He screamed for a bandaid (he wasn’t actually bleeding but it is a comfort thing).

Except we didn’t have any bandaids in the car.

So I told him we were going to get one, and picked him up and walked toward the school.

Jonah was still crying. The pain had most likely subsided, but he still felt he needed a band aid.

We made it to the gym and were met by Jonah’s para who informed us that they had a guest teacher today.

And because they were having an extended special morning assembly, their class was going straight into their classroom.

This is a huge deviation from the normal morning routine.

They usually meet in the gym. Jonah goes and sits on his line and they do their usual “morning assembly.”

Today was not a good day to change the routine.

Jonah dislikes his Para. But he likes his teacher… who was not there.

And a guest teacher who has not built any rapport with him would not get positive results when asking Jonah to “do a task.”

Huh boy.

So the day passed. I didn’t get a call so I hoped for the best. Sometimes, Jonah surprises me.

But When I went to pick the boys up, Jonah’s para informed me of his “rough day.”

She summed it up with Jonah “hitting a lot and throwing chairs.”

Jonny only gets to see his brother in passing (they have different recesses) but Jonny informed me that Jonah was not having a good time even at recess.

(Jonny will give me the full unfiltered truth)

He was throwing rocks. The playground teacher/parent liaison could not get him to stop. Jonny did his best to help.

When recess was done, Jonah refused to come inside. It took a team of people to wrangle him in. Jonny said he was screaming.

Even the vice-principal was out there.

sigh

Some days are just better than others.

Some days just plain suck.

But we pick ourselves up and try again tomorrow.

Sometimes I’ll go back through some of my old posts to remind myself of the good times when Jonah had fantastic days.

And I wish there was a way I could put that “magic formula” in a bottle for days like today.

Oh well.

Maybe tomorrow.
