So Jonah fell asleep…

So Jonah fell asleep…

So Jonah fell asleep watching inside out last night.

I didn’t notice he was sleeping until it was already bedtime.

In the past I had been hesitant to wake him up just to put him back asleep.

But I decided long ago that if there was to be an escalation, it’s much more preferable to deal with it at bedtime than to deal with it at 3am.

So I picked him up and started carrying him upstairs, expecting him to wake up, not entirely sure if he would fall back asleep.

He didn’t so much as budge.

No “bedtime routine.” No pajamas. No brushed teeth. Just out cold.

This is like paying for sleep with a credit card.

Because you WILL be paying for it later one way or another.

Either he will have a potty accident since he didn’t go before bedtime, or he will wake up in the middle of the night and want to do his bedtime routine that was skipped, possibly resulting in a meltdown from the disorientation…

…or he will just be up at some ungodly hour since he fell asleep early since he’s already up at some ungodly hour when he goes to sleep on time.

We have dealt with all this before at one time or another.

You guys.

He SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT.

Like ‘he slept in’ “slept through the night”.

Jonny woke him up just playing in his room around 7:30 this morning. He would have slept longer.

He didn’t get up, except to crawl into our bed sometime in the night. He didn’t want to do his bedtime routine. He didn’t have a potty accident even though he hasn’t gone since around 1pm yesterday.

He spent the night at Grammy and Papas house yesterday and apparently they wore him out pretty good!

I wish I could put yesterday’s “formula for a whole night of sleep” in a bottle and use it.

Every night.

Because, without actually accomplishing anything, simply getting a full nights sleep instantly makes today a better day and we are more prepared to handle whatever this Ausome life has to throw at us today.

Happy Monday!
