Keep my child safe (video)

So there has been an uptick in Jonah’s behaviors around other kids lately.

I’ve been repeatedly called into classrooms for behavioral issues where he had been successful for months.

I had to cancel my gym membership because of repeated behavioral issues in the childcare after only 10 minutes or so.

His behaviors have increased across the board in settings I am not there, and sometimes even if I AM there.

We had Jonahs Parent/Teacher conferences a couple weeks ago.

Jonah’s teacher informed us that he is just “done with her.”

He actively pushes the class boundaries and tries to get the other kids to follow suit. He then laughs when they get in trouble, even if he gets in trouble too, and the usual interventions for him don’t seem to be helping.

So, of course, my initial response is “What has changed?”

Why the behaviors?

It’s not like he can TELL me using words what’s going on. Is he being bullied? Did something happen to trigger this? What of his teachers/paras?

His teachers’ explanation is that he is simply bored with preschool and is looking for “more.” He has been in the same class with the same teachers for 2 years and thus far it has been great. But he is getting “ansy.”

Kind of like “senioritis” but for preschool.

So… I dunno. There are only a couple of months left of school so, hopefully we can get it resolved, and if not, we can transition…

Because next year is kindergarten.

With all new teachers and a whole new class.

And more than ever, I depend on them to be my eyes and ears for my child…

…to make sure they are not only learning, but above all,

…that they are safe.
