What’s your “mountai…

What’s your “mountain” today?

Today’s mountain for us…The dentist’s office.

I was dreading making this appointment. I think it has been a whole year since the last one.

In the past, the comment from the dentist was (not joking) “Wow. He’s strong, isn’t he.” It wasn’t pretty.

Today, we showed up to the dentist’s office and Jonah sat down and played quietly.

Then, when his name was called, he walked with me to the dentist’s seat and immediately got to pick out a new toothbrush. (It looks exactly like his old toothbrush.)

He didn’t want to sit on the chair, though. But he would sit in MY lap if I sat on the chair. So we both got to sit on the chair.

When the dentist came in, Jonah leaned back and let the dentist inspect his teeth.

I about lost it when the dentist brought out the miniature “pick-axe.” I was thinking for sure, there would be blood…

But nope. Jonah was a perfect patient. He opened his mouth wider on request and let the dentist do everything he needed to do.

NOT. A. SINGLE. FUSS.

He even let him apply Fluoride on his teeth.

Then, the dentist said “all done,” and Jonah got to pick out a toy and we were on our way. The whole thing lasted less than 15 minutes (NO JOKE!)

As we were walking out the door, I thought, “I’m missing something, aren’t I? It’s not supposed to be this easy. It’s NEVER this easy. WHAT AM I MISSING???!!”

But… that was it… No ‘cavities.’ No fillings. No mess. No fuss. In and out… done.

Seriously, you guys. I had been dreading this appointment since the last one and wondered if we would EVER get over this mountain.

I didn’t know when Jonah would be ready.

He was fine. He was GREAT. He surpassed every expectation I had for the DAY!

Turns out, sometimes, to get over a mountain, you just have to get moving and climb it.
