This Jonny boy……

This Jonny boy…

Today, we went and served free thanksgiving turkey dinners to a local community. Jonah stayed home with Mama.

Jonny helped out wherever he could.

We passed out water, helped set up, and helped to clean up and take stuff down.

And while I was busy serving food, Jonny grabbed himself a roll and some pumpkin pie (pretty much all he will eat of a thanksgiving meal) and sat down with a table full of people he had never met…. all by himself.

On the trip down, he had some “deep” questions and I could see him processing the answers.

“Why are there wars? Why was there WWII? Why can’t police always stop the bad guys? What happens when you die? Why was there a war about ‘different colored people?’ Why did the police arrest Martin Luther King? Why did he die? I can’t wait to meet him in heaven…”

Yeah… that kind of stuff. The trip was all of 20 minutes…

But it’s like, I can see the person he is becoming. I can see the character developing. He is trying to make sense of his world and find his place in it…

Sometimes we have behavioral setbacks with Jonny as well (what kid doesn’t) but Jonny is quick to find where he went wrong and try to make it right.

He is a natural peacemaker. He wants to help others… and DOES help others.

I couldn’t be more proud of him.
