It took me a while to get to ‘this’ place. The place where I no-longer fear “autism.”
And I suppose a lot of it is just understanding “autism” in Jonah and the progress Jonah has made developmentally.
I mean, don’t get me wrong. We’ve had some really hard days too.
But we had hard days BEFORE autism entered our lives as well.
We take the bad with the good either way.
In the beginning, I just didn’t know what ‘autism’ really was. I compared it to what I saw on TV or in movies.
What I’ve found is that autism is different for each person. We can’t compare journeys.
“Autism” for one person is not “autism” for another. And none of it is “easy.”
But I have come to appreciate every little victory we achieve SO much more.
