So I know the school…

So I know the school year is just ending, but I wanted to see how you guys get your Ausome kiddos acclimated to a new school routine.

Jojo was in preschool last year, and went to a new school this year. It was easy to make that transition. It was a totally new place so it was a brand new routine.

But what if it’s the same school, different classroom? New teacher? They expect to go one place, and instead have to go another place…

How do you prepare your kids for a routine change that you know will cause anxiety?

It causes ME anxiety just thinking about it!

We are going through this right now with Jonahs Kids Church class. They have been VERY accommodating for us allowing him to remain in the infant/toddler wing (even though he is 4) because that is our routine. He does great in class and I’ve not had to worry about him on a LONG time.

But he will be turning 5 this year, and they will have 2-year-olds coming in to his class when the kids move up.

It’s time to move up.

I tried to take him to the 4-year-old class once and it was awful.

He screamed and flailed for 45 minutes until we left and then he ran straight for the 3-year-old class.

I’ve not tried again since.

What do you guys do to make that transition easier?
