So this happened today…

So this happened today…err. yesterday.

Jojo’s 1:1 therapist is trying to teach him to just say “no thank you,” instead of screaming when he sees something he doesn’t like.

This is like an every-day occurrence for us at home. If Jojo doesn’t like something, he squeals with displeasure at it. So we want to give him the tools to express his displeasure verbally so he can eventually be able to tell us WHAT is bothering him.

But Jojo was so “chill” in this session, that the therapist couldn’t get him to act out (so she could teach him to just say “no thank you!” instead of screaming)

She tried moving his toys. He let her. She started putting toys out of place… no problems.

She stuck Daniel Tiger action figures in the Marble Run track. Jojo thought it was hilarious. He started doing it too.

It took almost half-an-hour for him to “not be okay” with her playing “inappropriately” with his toys.

You can definitely tell that he has been playing around other people and kids and has developed a tolerance for other people playing around him as well.

As a matter of fact, he has even began to SHARE his toys with the therapist and give the therapist “turns” with the toys.

I would not have expected it.

He hasn’t said “no thank you” yet, but we’re working on it. 🙂
