A year ago, Jojo had one word he could communicate verbally (“done”).
We have been working on imitation for the last several months, which is a foundational piece for developing speech.
I’m actually thrilled to say that this is a phase (echolalia) we have very recently started. Any meaningful dialogue is still limited, but if Jojo is trying to communicate something and you articulate for him what he is trying to say, he will readily repeat it.
He is understanding more and more verbal communication every day and will even script (sing) songs he is learning at school.
