So last night, Jonah fell asleep at 6:30pm in the playroom…

So last night, Jonah fell asleep at 6:30pm in the playroom.

FOR GOOD.

Experienced parents already know that struggle.

A late nap means he won’t fall back asleep at bedtime. Or if he doesn’t wake up and just sleeps through bedtime? That means a good 8-hours of sleep for him (a full nights sleep) would put him waking up around…2:30am.

I did everything in my power to wake him up last night but he wouldn’t budge.

9pm rolled around. Bedtime. He handn’t even moved. I put him in his jammies. He barely opened his eyes. I put him in his own bed. He didn’t budge.

So a 2:30am rendezvous it would be then. 😭

Before I went to sleep, I prepared a bottle spiked with melatonin (my secret weapon for a 2:30am encounter).

But to my surprise, Jonah slept in his own bed for most the night. He came waltzing isn’t the room about 5:30am (11 hours of sleep!) to climb into bed with us and I finally got up with him at 6am.

It was better than I could have ever hoped. 😄

So fast-forward to tonight.

Right now.

It’s about 8:30pm and I used the “magic sippycup” I prepared last nightfor bedtime tonight and he is out cold.

But with melatonin, you never know. It can be hit or miss…

Sometimes he will be out for the night, or sometimes it will be for a couple hours…and he will be up the rest of the night.

Melatonin. It’s like rolling the proverbial sleeping dice.

The struggle, y’all… it’s real.
