So Jonah was playing in the back yard… it is completely fenced in.

He likes to play in the dirt, or in the grass, or walk across the retaining wall. He’s getting quite adept.

I turned for a second and looked back and he was gone.

GONE.

I panicked. I looked in the grass. Down the hill. On the side of the house.

Nothing. The gates were still closed.

I called to him. Nothing.

It’s like he had vanished.

Terror. Dread. Fear.

Then, something moved out of the corner of my eye. I thought it was our cat scurrying under the deck to avoid me. I looked closer…

Jonah had gotten UNDER the deck. This was my view.
