At bedtime tonight…
Jonah (leads me to the back door): “outside?”
Me: “no bud, it’s too late.”
Jonah: “…”
Jonah finds some other toys in the playroom to play with.
I need to take a second and just reflect on how far we have come.
I feel like there should be more pomp and circumstance here.
So so SOOOO much victory!
This would usually either end up with hitting at the least, a tantrum or meltdown at the worst, or me just letting him outside because he verbally requested it.
But instead, we had this:
• verbal question
• listening to verbal answer.
• Understanding and acquiescing to adult direction without resistance.
• successful self-redirection the first time without prompting.
