Night Time — When we do ALL the things — except sleep.

We flipped a switch at night time.

We ate dinner at 11pm at night time.

We learned 3 new words, including “toe,” “mouth,” and “shoulder,” at night time.

We sat at the dinner table for an hour babbling and being silly at night time.

We didn’t want to be “all done” at night time.

We wanted to play the piano at night time.

We wanted to play “chase” and “get me” at night time.

We didn’t want to go to bed at night time.

We wanted to snuggle in mommy and daddy’s bed at night time.

We wanted to kick daddy in the head in his own bed at night time.

We wanted to scream at Daddy for putting us back in our own bed at night time.

We wanted to get out of our own bed and find a new toy at night time.

We didn’t actually want to play with it. We wanted to throw it at the wall as hard as we could while brother and mommy were sleeping at night time.

We wanted to slap daddy in the face for taking the toy away at night time.

We wanted to hit daddy for blocking the door and not letting us run around the house at night time.

We wanted to throw a tantrum and melt down for a long time at night time.

But we didn’t . When daddy put us under the covers again, we didn’t get back up, even though we weren’t tired at night time.

And now we are watching the pretty lights in our room as they dance and sparkle across the walls and the ceiling, when everything is dark at night time.

Our eyes are getting heavy but night time has ended. It is now the wee hours of morning.

So we may try to sleep, but we may not. We need to save our energy. Because tomorrow, we will have lots of things to do…

Except to sleep…

…at night time.
