An update….and a random pic…

Since my camera is …somewhere and I don’t have any new pics for you, here is a random pic…and I do mean random.

So what’s new?… ahhh what indeed. Well first with Jonny (obviously).

Sleep: Much better. He wakes up probably once at night and will put himself back to sleep most the time. He is still cutting 3 or 4 teeth (canines) but this version of teething is much more bearable simply because it involves mommy and daddy sleeping more than 3 hours (Praise God).

His speech is developing nicely. Matter of fact, last week we were changing his diaper (for some reason he HATES having his diaper changed, and while he was thrashing around wailed “WHHYYYYYYYYYYY???” which made both Mama and me bust up laughing and prompted him to start laughing about it as well… then, the same day he very clearly stated, “I WANT THAT!” (pointing at something Daddy was holding, most likely the phone). He has interjected some actual words in his babbling and it won’t be long before he is reciting the first 2 lines of the preamble to the Constitution…(only the first 2 lines because that’s all they do in the Muppet cartoon he has to watch every day).

He had his developmental therapy appointment and it went about as expected. Those appointments will be by far the easiest appointments of all his checkups. They consist of Jonny playing, and 2 different ‘specialists’ giving him treats for playing ‘right’ (Find the cheese puff, walk along the coffee table too this treat, etc). The best part is they come right to our house so we don’t even need to go anywhere.

They will mostly concentrate on working on his walking abilities and his diet.
The walking part is mostly to make sure he learns to walk correctly. Since he had surgery on his hips, the doctor wants to make sure he walks correctly so he doesn’t hinder his development further. I’m not too worried about it.

But as far as his diet goes, I’m really interested to see what they can do. The kid just eats sugar and starch. That’s it. oh and blueberries…did I mention sugar?

We are supposed to be documenting his diet for the next 2 weeks and honestly it is rather embarrassing.

Breakfast: rejected waffle, rejected strawberries, rejected cheerios, ate 6 pieces of lucky charms… Lunch: 4 Ritz crackers…20 oz of milk.

You get the idea.

Anyways, we are supposed to have a dietitian help him to learn to eat new foods or help us to help him eat better or something like that so I really hope it works.

Mama updates: Mama is working hard and working out like a maniac. She is working her way through Making the Cut by Jillian Michaels and is trying to follow the workout program to a “T.”
She had a battle with strep throat a few weeks ago, but has made a full recovery thanks to Jonny sleeping at night again.

Jason updates: Jason is also working out and we are both working on our diet. I caught a heavy pan from falling off the top of the fridge awkwardly and one handedly and may have done something bad to my shoulder, but since college, there really hasn’t been a time when my shoulder hasn’t hurt. I’m giving it another week to see if it gets any better (I told myself the same thing last week). Last time I went to see a doctor about it, I got recommended to a shoulder specialist who did an MRI (resulting in a keloid scar on my shoulder) told me I had the equivalent of an “almost” torn labrum, really the only conclusive evidence on the MRI was that it had a lot of inflammation. (wow, since I had been throwing almost everyday, what a surprise?) So I am putting a visit to the doc on the ‘lower’ end of the priority list. Besides, if they want to work on my shoulder, it may hamper my softball season coming up, and definitely would throw off my jump shot.

That’s all I got for now. For some reason I need to post another random pic.

Yeah. I dunno either. I shot this at the Fair.
