In 2019, Jonah’s preschool class made each other personalized books.

Each classmate and teacher wrote a page in every student’s book.

I recorded myself reading Jonah’s book about why his class say that he is special.

Jonah watched that video over and over and over, until he had it memorized.

Then, when I got his “special” book back out, he would “read” it by reciting the video and turning the pages.

This is technically echolalia, but it was more than Jonah had ever spoken.

No tricks or gimmiks. No diet changes. No detoxing or anything like that. Just hard work.

This was after about a year of ABA, developmental preschool, and an extended school program just for kiddos with autism.
